Epikos started with six people in a living room. I had no idea it was happening because I was happily leading a staff of five at a pretty good church in the Silicon Valley. Ron and his team intended from day one that the church would be led by a team of leaders, so they contacted me and asked if I knew anyone who might be willing to help them create a healthy, unselfish, growing church. Long story short: Myronie and I had some conversations, prayed about it, and decided to do it.
Why would we leave a healthy church with lots of money and great people? The simple answer is freedom. We were part of a denomination that sucked away all of the tithe and made it impossible to staff for growth. We knew that moving to Vancouver was a risk, but we believed it was the best path to a church that would always keep reaching more and more people for Christ. God is blessing, and we’re really glad we took the risk!
